Kathy Stoecker MS LPC.

President and CEO of

Northern Arizona Trauma Institute (NATI)

Kathy received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and her Masters of Science degree in Professional Counseling at Grand Canyon University.  She specializes in Trauma Informed Therapy, which is her passion, and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).  She has completed and holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies through the Trauma Research Foundation, which was founded by Bessel van der Kolk MD (best-selling author of “The Body Keeps the Score”).  Kathy also completed a 6-week Group Supervision and Consultation Program through the Trauma Research Foundation which was facilitated by Dr. van der Kolk.  She also holds a certificate in Neurofeedback by completing a BCIA (Biofeedback Certification International Alliance) approved neurofeedback course through the Sadar Psychological and Sports Center.  Her approach is to identify her client’s reactions to their trauma and help them to process their trauma so eventually the trauma effects will not be a predominant focus of their lives.  Through processing their trauma, a client can go on to leading a healthier, happier life.  She and her husband Mark have raised two wonderful children who are both in college.  They have two pet dogs, Beardsley and Mabel who may be seen around the office.

Mark received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of California, Irvine.  He received his MD from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia PA.  He is currently Board Certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians.  Mark also holds a certificate in Neurofeedback which he attained through completing a BCIA approved neurofeedback course through the Sadar Psychological and Sports Center.  He feels that the majority of symptoms for which psychotropic medications are prescribed for today can be managed through non-medicinal modalities such as Psychotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Neurofeedback, and others.  His philosophy is to help patients take minimal to no medications for their psychological symptoms.  Mark and Kathy share a passion for helping people lead healthy, happy lives.
